This three-day class is for students who have completed an introductory timberframe class and would like to learn more. Students will concentrate on timberframe design and advanced layout techniques.  We will also address historic timberframe joinery, modern joinery choices, and basic timberframe engineering.  While there won’t be time to produce a timberframe project, students will have the opportunity to learn and  practice square-rule, scribe-rule, and French scribe layout techniques.  We also plan to demonstrate joining “less than perfect” timbers, “live-edge” timbers, and round into square.  We will tailor the class to the students’ needs and interests.  If you are currently designing or cutting a timberframe, bring along your ideas and/or plans.  Students should come prepared with timber frame layout tools and a construction calculator.

Course end time: Sunday, 5pm
