Finish and Trim Carpentry

A. Course Description

Learn the finer elements of carpentry finish trim work in this practical three-day workshop. Trim work is often seen as the most difficult element in the building and renovation field; something a novice should not undertake. This workshop will demystify the art of trim work and show you the systematic steps to achieve beautiful finish trim to doors, windows, crown mouldings and baseboards. As a part of this workshop we will be making our own trim which we will then apply to a real project.

Level: Beginner to intermediate.

B. Tools/Materials to Bring

•  Work clothes and sturdy shoes

•  Eye and ear protection and dust mask

•  Any tools from home you would like to better familiarize yourself with

Day One

Site visit to trim project job

Learn trim techniques like mitering, coping cuts and planning a room for finish work

Make trim for job

Day Two

Go to work site and begin installing trim

Day Three

Continue to install trim
