Router Mania
Course Syllabus

Instructor: Lawrence Jacquette

Welcome to the router workshop. The goal of this course is to dispel some of the mystery and intimidation that the router has for some people. When used correctly it can save you time, money, and perform miracles (well, almost).

Each student in the class will be building a small project that you can take home, which incorporates at least 7 different common uses that the router is capable of, plus countless other tips and techniques, which will give you the skills and confidence to tackle the more difficult projects at home.

Topics covered will include;

•  The different types of routers - which one is right for the job?

•  Router safety

•  Router bits 'n' parts - what things are called and what's the difference anyway?

•  Template making

•  Jig making - a fundamental skill that can sometimes resemble an art form.

•  Joinery - mortises and tenons t hat will make you a master

•  Frame and panel doors

•  Inlay - some basic stuff to personalize your piece

•  Router tables - don't worry, they are nothing like the periodic tables

•  Discussion of some more advanced techniques and store bought jigs

Prerequisites : none

What to bring : comfortable work clothes, a notebook and of course a router if you own one! (but if you don't, we will have plenty for you to use!)

Schedule: This class will start at 6:00pm on Friday evening with a welcome and orientation to Yestermorrow, followed by a course overview to 9:00pm.
