Cabinets and Built-ins
Project: The class will be building a single cabinet for a local client using some very basic and widely used techniques using two principle tools: the table saw and the router, relying on joints that are simple, strong, and look great.
Topics to be covered will include:
- Designing cabinets to fit your own style and budget
- Lay-out and measurement - so you can build your cabinet to fit perfectly.
- Building face frames and carcases- the differences between face frame and euro stile
- Adding drawers and/or doors- We will look at the wide range of design options, methods of putting them together, and ways of installing them.
- Hardware- how it influences the look of your cabinets.
- Countertops- I will give the basic possibilities and a small lesson on making your own.
- Finishing -how to choose and apply the most appropriate finish for your project.
- Installation -how to make them look like they are part of the house and have them stay there.
