Green real estate and green development represent an important new opportunity and many people are anxious to know more about it. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the issues giving participants a solid understanding of the subject, preparing them for practical application or advanced studies. Course material will be presented in a practical and interactive process suitable for the average person with a professional interest in green real estate or green development
This three day course will discuss:
- What is Green Real Estate and Green Development,
- What research has been done fact and fiction,
- Green Finance, green valuation, incentives, mortgages and insurance,
- Green rating and certification systems,
- Recognizing, evaluating and promoting green features,
- Case histories demonstrating successful approaches,
- Building support with stakeholders and overcoming roadblocks,
- Regionally important variations, issues and strategies,
- Green real estate and development organizations and resources,
- Working with green professionals inspectors, designers, builders, financers,
- Professional development, recognition and accreditation,
- Green demographics, programs and listing services,
- Green resources, media, marketing and sales,
- How to develop and implement a green real estate business plan.
Participants will openly discuss their needs, experiences and aspirations while the class takes a step by step tour through the world of green planning, design, construction, sales and operations. The course will start with a basic overview of sustainability and comprehensive review of sustainable features of residential and commercial real estate and then progress to the emerging world of green real estate and development. Case studies, the local environment and the Yestermorrow campus will be used to critically explore a range of practical issues.
