Housekeeper (P/T)

Yestermorrow Design/Build School seeks a Part-Time Housekeeper for 8-10 hours/week.  Applicants must be flexible and able to work Fridays and Sundays every week.  Call Monica at 496-5545. Position available June 1.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Housekeeper
Reports to:

Responsibilities:
To maintain a safe and clean environment in and around Yestermorrow’s buildings, including:

  • Cleaning (sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, washing or vacuuming) carpets, walls, windows, woodwork, furniture and equipment in the main school building, including office, kitchen, bathrooms, dormitory rooms, public spaces, and classrooms.
  • Monitoring an ongoing list of check-outs to determine rooms which need to be cleaned.
  • Making beds and setting towels.
  • Stripping beds and gathering all laundry for delivery to laundry service.
  • Maintaining the linen closet as clean and organized.
  • Emptying garbage and recycling containers.
  • Replacing paper products, soap and light bulbs.
  • Keeping inventory of and ordering cleaning supplies as necessary to ensure adequate stock.
  • Examining rooms, halls, and lobbies to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment, and makes recommendations to management.
  • Responding to complaints regarding housekeeping service, and taking corrective action.
  • Attending periodic staff meetings to discuss School policies and students' complaints, and to make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation.
  • Doing related work as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning (70%)
  • Turning over Dormitory Rooms (25%)

Special considerations
Employee must be able to work interactively in a demanding, fast-paced environment and be able to stand for extended periods of time and carry up to 25 lbs.  Flexible schedule including weekends is required.

Kitchen Assistant (P/T)

Part-time, year-round Kitchen Assistant position available immediately.  Morning and weekend shifts available, approximately 15-20 hrs/week.  Kitchen experience preferred but we will train the right person. 

Responsibilities:

Assist Whole Foods Chef with meal plan operations, including:

  • Assisting Chef with meal planning, preparation, serving and clean-up at designated meal times as well as taking responsibility for all noted kitchen tasks and side work.
  • Maintaining a smooth functionality in general kitchen work areas.  Checking equipment and reporting necessary repairs.
  • Washing dishes, utensils, kitchenware, etc.
  • Maintaining pristine levels of cleanliness on a daily basis including all general preparation and storage areas, dining areas, appliances, equipment and especially floors.
  • Assisting Chef in maintaining continuous inventory of food and supplies.  Includes maintaining a current food and supply inventory, helping to pick up food from local farms and suppliers, and unloading delivery trucks and restocking storage areas.
  • Dining room set-up and clean-up at meals.
  • Describing the food and food philosophy to guests as well as presenting food at designated meal times with appropriate labeling to accommodate dietary restrictions.
  • Abiding by Health Department rules which apply to the kitchen and dining area.

Job qualifications include: experience cooking and serving food for large groups; ability to provide a high level of customer service with constant exposure to the public while accommodating a diverse and constantly changing clientele of students, instructors and staff; an interest in local foods and seasonal cooking; and a self-directed, motivated, and easy-going personality.

Schedule:

Early morning (7am) and evening (to 8pm) shifts required
