Norbert Yankielun

When Dr. Norbert (Bert) E. Yankielun, P.E., an electrical engineer designing and using ground-penetrating radar, is not at his "real" job with the U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover, NH, or on scientific expedition to Arctic Alaska, Greenland, or Antarctica, he enjoys the "hobby" of teaching people how to build snow shelters including igloos. He has conducted courses at the Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich, VT and at the Green Mountain Club in Waterbury, VT. Over the last ten years he has shared with hundreds of people the 'art' of igloo building. His workshops have been featured in the New York Times and now in a book called: "How to Build an Igloo and other Snow Shelters", published by Norton Press in the Fall of 2007.
