For the past ten years Hilary Russell has helped teenagers and adults build more than a hundred canoes, kayaks, coracles, umiaks and pulling boats. He formerly chaired the English Department at the Berkshire School, where he also taught boat building and led outing programs. He is the author of many poems and articles -- both literary and nautical -- a book of poems, an anthology of American poetry, and a writing handbook. Currently he teaches creative writing at Berkshire Community College and directs the Berkshire Boat Building School in Sheffield, Massachussets. |
