Lawrence Ribbecke

Larry lives and works in Burlington, VT, where he maintains a stained glass studio and retail materials supply store. While attending MIT in the late 1960's, he also learned basic stained glass techniques from Richard MacDonald and Irving McClair. He moved to Vermont in 1971 and has been designing, building and restoring windows for homes and churches ever since.  Larry has a broad perspective on stained glass art and craft, having put more than three decades into designing appropriate and pleasing windows for many Vermont homes, businesses, and public buildings.  Recent commissions have included the large main front window, called the "Creation", in the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Barre, Vermont, and eight windows in the Community Lutheran Church in South Burlington.  Stained glass windows are intended for art and beauty and to help create an environment, but must also be built to the high technical standards of modern building construction.  Larry is eager to share skills and information with students of his beloved craft, believing that well-designed and well crafted windows will ensure the survival and improvement of this ancient and modern craft.
