Architecture as Re:Use -- Installation as Intervention

The use of media other than architecture as a learning tool through which projects are discovered and realized is an important part of design practice. Works created using mundane or recycled materials are increasingly becoming a part of the fine arts world. This course will explore temporary installation artworks as a way of studying space-making and re-use of materials. During this class, students will undertake a survey of installation as a form of expression and as a laboratory for broader architectural study. The class will then complete several temporary installation works all of which will involve harvested and re-used materials. The nature of material reuse will also be studied in this class; and the examination of the ultimate use of our harvested materials will be a final part of the course. Intermediate to Professional.
