By popular demand we are offering Part II in the Home Design class series. Complete the design you began in Home Design, or dive into a new interior renovation or building project. Learn what makes a house unique and intellectually, esthetically, and emotionally satisfying to live in. Topics include planning kitchens, baths, storage and other spaces, room conversions, circulation, furniture arrangement, spatial definition, selecting materials and finishes, color schemes, accessibility, trim work, lighting, comfort and climate control, introduction to mechanical systems, fireplaces, and more. Students will make plans, interior elevations and models, detail drawings, and choose fixtures and finishes for selected rooms. Principles from Christopher Alexander's A Pattern Language will be discussed and applied. Slides and field trips will stimulate ideas and discussion. For graduates of Yestermorrow Home Design or Home Design/Build courses. Beginner to Intermediate.
