Green Rehabilitation
This class will present, discuss and analyze the basic principles associated with green building / green living and sustainable design. Through lectures, slides and site visits, students will focus their attention on the ways in which these principles can be applied to the existing built environment, promoting historic preservation and adaptive re-use. Participants will explore and develop the knowledge and skills required to make informed design decisions while working within the confines of an existing building. Discussion will focus on strategies to conserve energy, improve indoor air quality and comfort, support local crafts and supply networks, and manage long-term maintenance in cost-effective and sustainable ways. All Levels.
