How to Design Anything

This is a studio class which expands, clarifies and celebrates the age-old design process. Bring in your design challenge- from a light fixture to a house, from a boat to a bikini. Your design is your statement and vision of the status of humankind in your era. In the studio, students will work independently exploring the secrets of design. Each student will be led through a series of design exercises that will assist in opening avenues of invention necessary to developing solutions for their selected design. Several times during the five day studio, short three-hour design challenges will be assigned that will challenge the mind and define the essence of form. Models, drawings, diagrams and sketches will be used as vehicles for exploration. The class will culminate in a show of the design work.
