Insulated Concrete Forms, or ICFs, are a fast growing part of the construction industry. ICFs are expanded polystyrene forms that hold concrete in place during curing and remain in place afterwards to serve as thermal insulation for concrete walls. The foam sections are lightweight and result in energy-efficient, durable construction.  The purpose of this one-day seminar, taught by an experienced ICF contractor, is to introduce builders and homeowners to ICFs -- demystifying the product, clarifying its pros and cons, deciphering among the forty different manufacturers in the market, and providing an overview of how to build with them, including discussions on wall construction, the creation of window and door openings, and bracing the wall in preparation of concrete placement.   We will build a small section of wall to be able to actualize the conceptual classroom instruction, though concrete will not be placed in the wall.
