Architectural Ceramics

This is a course that will explain, with demonstrations and student participation, the technical and practical processes of creating ceramic architectural surfaces and installations. Students will learn how to build bas relief and decorative hand made tilings that cover large walls (kitchen, bathroom) or fireplaces. Ceramics is a permanent, water resistant, heat resistant surface that can also beautify and embellish its surroundings. Anyone can take this course, and will be surprised to learn that any size project from a kitchen back splash to an entire bathroom can be accomplished in a small private studio space. One should be comfortable with clay handbuilding techniques. Some tile molds will also be demonstrated. All Levels.
