Can I receive college credit for completion of certificate programs?

Students can receive college credit for courses taken at Yestermorrow at the discretion of the receiving school.  We are happy to assist you in this process and can issue a Yestermorrow transcript or grade report, however we will need to know in advance that you plan to get credit for the course.

What additional costs are there besides tuition?

Students are responsible for their own meals and lodging expenses as well as any travel expenses.

For students enrolled in the Certificate in Sustainable Building and Design on the Pay-in-Full plan, electives that are longer than 2 days or 5 days now have an additional day fee of $150 per day.  This includes classes such as Timberframing (6 days), and Sustainable Treehouse Design and Construction (7 days).

Some hands-on building electives such as Beehive Design/Build and Reclaimed Furntiture Design/Build may also have materials fees.  Please see our individual course descriptions for any additional materials fees that may apply.

Do I have to live on campus?

No, if you are planning to take a series of courses over many months, you may look into finding a short-term rental in the area by contacting our local Chamber of Commerce, Craigslist or any of the local rental agencies.  An off campus rental is also a good idea for students with pets.

As Yestermorrow is nestled in a popular tourist location, there are many off-campus lodging options in a variety of price ranges.

How long does it take to complete the Certificate in Sustainable Building & Design?

Depending on your availability, the certificate can take anywhere from six months to a few years.  Some students choose to move to the area to complete the core program and their electives and focus directly on their practicum project after their classes are completed.

For others, taking classes as time permits within work and home-life schedules, a longer timeline is required for completion.

Each student is encouraged to develop a time frame specific to their needs.

Do you accept international students?

Yes, all Yestermorrow programs are open to everyone.

Do I have to have any previous experience to enroll?

Our students have a wide variety of backgrounds and expertise, including professionals, college students, and individuals looking for alternatives to traditional higher education.  Many students enroll in our certificate programs seeking new skills that will lead to future career opportunities.

Our certificate programs are open to emerging as well as experienced professionals looking to enhance career opportunities.  Our small class sizes and the accessibility of our instructors allow for an individualized educational experience.

Do I have to fill out an application?

Yestermorrow welcomes students into its certificate programs on a first come, first served rolling admissions basis until the program is full.  For the Certificate in Sustainable Building and Design and the Natural Building Certificate, only our basic registration form and minimum deposit amount are required.

The Woodworking Certificate does require a completed application as well as the minimum deposit amount.

Is there an application deadline?

No.  Our programs are filled on a rolling admissions basis and as long as there are spaces available, we will continue to accept students up until the day before the program starts.
