Dear friends,2011 Annual Report

After the Natural Building workshop ended in January, a student
wrote in a blog post, “What I loved most about this experience was
the realization that it’s all about problem-solving. Well, it’s also
about beauty, and social justice, and the creative impulse, and
community, and being in tune with the Earth. But the primary
cognitive and creative activity underlying designing and building
is problem-solving.”

That’s a good description of Yestermorrow—how we teach and
what we value. The other aspect of Yestermorrow is the quality
of learning that happens here. When design is infused with the
realities of building, learning soaks into the entire process. It’s not
linear or orderly, but it is powerful.

I want to share some highlights of how Yestermorrow brought
together beauty, problem solving, social justice, and the creative
spirit as a thank you for your commitment to Yestermorrow. We
have accomplished so much with your help. You’ll see on page 10
how Yestermorrow attracts students from near and far. You can
help us continue to extend our reach by sharing our story with
family and friends.

Thank you,

Kate Stephenson
Executive Director
